PRAYAGRAJ: The Kaushambi police have rounded up eight people in connection with the sensational murder of a woman lekhpal Kiran Rupauliya (50), whose body was found in the forest area in Chitrakoot on Monday. Kiran was missing since Saturday evening and her son Shauryajeet lodged a missing complaint at Pipri police station on Sunday.

According to reports, Kiran Rupauliya of Chhapra in Bihar had got the job on compassionate grounds after her husband’s death. She used to live in Rajruppur area of Prayagraj with her son and daughter.
Pipri police of Kaushambi district have now registered a case of murder and started investigations. Police officials said that footage revealed that Kiran was seen going in a red car after coming out of her office in the tehsil. The owner of the car is being traced. Questioning from colleagues has also revealed that Kiran had given ₹5 lakh to a relative and was pressurising him to return it soon. Moreover, Kiran also owned several tempos, tractors and taxi.

Meanwhile, lekhpals staged a protest at the tehsil, demanding early arrest of the accused.
Youth arrested for raping minor relative
Khuldabad police on Tuesday arrested a youth accused of raping a minor girl. The youth is a resident of Mumbai and was arrested in Prayagraj following a tip-off.
According to reports, the accused Ganesh Gaur lured the minor sister of his sister-in-law and raped her several times. He used to come from Mumbai to meet the girl and used to call her to hotel rooms. However, the girl’s kin came to know about the relationship and lodged an FIR against Ganesh some days back. On Tuesday, Khuldabad police arrested him while he had come from Mumbai. SHO of Khuldabad police station Anurag Sharma said the accused had been booked under POCSO Act and other relevant sections of IPC.
