The robbery took place just a few metres away from the office of superintendent of police, Banda. SHO Kotwali Baljeet Singh said though the family hadn’t given any complaint, the police had begun investigation.

Kalloo Prasad, 67, had gone to the State Bank of India (SBI) branch near Kutchery with his son Chandra Prakash and wife Chandrakali. He withdrew the cash and was looking for a rickshaw when he was attacked by two people who came on a motorcycle. The criminals took the bag containing the cash along.

Prasad’s son gave the criminals a chase and got hold of one of them with the help of locals. Circle officer Raghvendra Singh said the man in the custody was being questioned. The other one involved would soon be arrested, he said.
