The district administration on Tuesday launched a mobile app—Parkash Utsav 550—to facilitate devotees arriving for the celebrations of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak in Sultanpur Lodhi. The app, once downloaded, will work offline.

Launching the app, MLA Navtej Singh Cheema, deputy commissioner (DC) DPS Kharbanda and SSP Satinder Singh said that the app will provided information about traffic routes, railway connectivity, accommodation facilities in different localities, police deployment, historic gurdwaras, medical facilities and places to visit in nearby areas.
Android users can presently download the app from Google play store while iPhone users can download it from apple store in three days.
The app will provide single-click information about historical gurdwaras, transport, healthcare, food and water, toilets and waste disposal, besides police check post, IT Information centers, May I Help you Desk, parking lots and missing trackers. In case of emergency, details of all helplines, including 44 hospitals in Sultanpur, Lohian, Kapurthala and Jalandhar, and ATM points have also been fed in the app.
Cheema said that pilgrims could also learn about the 37 langars at various places.
GPS locations of all three tent cities and 9 parking lots were also provided in the app.
Besides facilitating devotees, the app will also be helpful in the deployment of human resources and officials in identified 15 sectors.
ADC Rahul Chabha said that mobile service providers will install additional 20 high-frequency towers to cater to the needs of lakhs of devotees.
