According to police, the bus was headed toward Dadri around 6pm when the driver allegedly swerved to avoid a vehicle ahead. The driver then lost control of the bus, causing it to overturn, officials said.
Following the accident, police reached the spot and launched a rescue operation. The injured were taken to the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in ambulances for treatment, officials said. Officials at GIMS said all the injured were out of danger.
“Fourteen casualties were received at the emergency department at GIMS, Greater Noida. Most patients have blunt injuries, while three to four are suspected to have fractures. All patients are being evaluated and admitted. All the patients are out of danger as of now, and the situation is under control,” said Dr (Brig) Rakesh Gupta, director, GIMS.
“We have not registered any case yet, and no family member has filed a complaint. The incident appears to have been accidental in nature,” additional deputy commissioner of police (Greater Noida) Santosh Kumar told HT.
Police said the bus was carrying around 28-30 employees at the time of the accident. The vehicle was later removed from the spot with the help of a hydra crane.
Traffic movement in the area remained smooth, and the law and order situation was under control, police said.
