A 15-year-old girl was gang-raped allegedly by two e-rickshaw drivers in Muradnagar late Tuesday night.

After allegedly raping her, the suspects put her on a bus to Delhi, police said. She was later asked to get off the bus by the driver as she had no money to pay the fare. Police teams out on patrolling spotted her on the road around 1am and took her home to her parents, police said.
According to police, the girl left her home around 4pm Tuesday on the pretext of fetching milk from the nearby market. The two suspects spotted her on the way, and when they asked her where she was going, she told them she left her home after being scolded by her mother, said police.
“The suspects forced her into their e-rickshaw and drove around the city until dark. They then took her to an isolated, semi-constructed house and gang-raped her. Around 10.30pm, they forced her to board a bus to Delhi. After the bus driver made her get off as she had no money to pay the fare. We spotted her around 1am near ALT Crossing on the Delhi-Meerut Road, 15km from Muradnagar. We then took her back to her family. Her medical examination confirmed sexual assault,” said Iraj Raja, deputy commissioner of police (rural).
The girl did not initially tell police officers that she has been raped, but on Wednesday morning, she narrated her ordeal to counsellors at the police station.
“We immediately formed teams and went to a charging point where e-rickshaw drivers charge their vehicle batteries. We learned that the vehicle used in the crime had a broken headlight and launched a search for such a vehicle. We traced and arrested the prime suspect with the help of informers and he told us the identity of his accomplice,” Raja added.
The suspects, Mohammad Nazim, 25, and Mohhamad Zahid, 24, were arrested on Wednesday evening. They have admitted to the crime, said police officers.
They were booked for gang-rape, criminal intimidation and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, police said.
