Police said that the four suspects have been identified as Suraj Verma, Aryan Tyagi, Sameer Ahmad and Mohammad Rehan. They operated from a few locked flats in the Bhojpur area in Modinagar.

The four were booked under provisions of the Arms Act, police said, adding that they recovered eight guns, 13 semi-finished guns and two pistols, besides other items used for manufacturing arms.

Police said that the four suspects were nabbed after a tip-off by an informer. During interrogation, they disclosed that the arms were to be supplied to Delhi and Ghaziabad, ahead of the civic polls.

“The four suspects were operating for the past one month from Bhojpur. During interrogation, it was revealed that they have supplied around 500 illegal arms to nearby districts such as Baghpat and Meerut,” said Iraj Raja, superintendent of police, Ghaziabad (rural).

“We are also trying to trace their mediators and some of them have already been identified. Once they are arrested, we will establish the supply chain. The suspects operated from old locked flats and isolated areas,” SP Raja added.

Police also recovered a car bearing a Delhi registration number and a two-wheeler with the registration number from Meerut district.
