Ghaziabad:Police in Bhojpur in Ghaziabad’s Modinagar arrested a 32-year-old theft suspect on Thursday, a day after he escaped from the police station during questioning.

The incident led senior officials to remove the station house officer (SHO) fro m his post.
Police said the suspect, 32-year-old and a resident of Dhaulana in Hapur district, was arrested from Bhojpur in connection with two cases of theft.
“The suspect was brought to the Bhojpur police station on Wednesday for questioning and somehow fled in the afternoon. Following this, action was taken against the SHO, who was sent to the police lines. Police teams were formed to search for him and he was arrested on Thursday,” said DCP (rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari.
The suspect has two other cases registered against him at the Kavi Nagar police station, three theft cases each at the Dhaulana and Pilkhuwa police stations in Hapur, and four cases of theft and loot at the Sardhana police station in the Meerut district.
Police clarified that the suspect was not formally detained when he escaped.Police also arrested a 20-year-old accomplice, who is also a resident of Dhaulana.
“Several stolen jewellery items were recovered from the suspects,” the DCP added.
