One killed, many injured in bus accident on Yamuna expressway: Police official

Police official said the bus driver was trying to avoid hitting a truck moving in front of him but amid dense fog, the bus went went off-road and hit the railing of the expressway

In a tragic incident, a bus carrying around 60 passengers was involved in a road crash on Monday, killing one and injuring 27 others, officials said.

The incident happened around 7am on Monday when the bus was travelling from Agra to Noida on the Yamuna Expressway.

“Out of 27 patients, 2 were children. One patient was brought dead. All of them were given immediate emergency care and kept under observation after through medical examination. Five patients had factures and three patients with head trauma are kept in ICU under observation. Others had blunt trauma and are in the general emergency ward,” said Dr (Brig) RK Gupta, director of GIMS.

“A container truck was moving in front of the bus and it suddenly stopped. Due to dense fog, the driver of the bus also applied sudden breaks and the bus went off-road, hitting the railing of the expressway and falling off the road. There were around 60 passengers in the bus and 15 people have been injured who are currently admitted at a nearby hospital for treatment,” said Abhishek Verma, DCP, Greater Noida.

The police official informed three others injured were admitted at Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida.

“We have not received a complaint in the matter yet. Further investigation is underway,” he said.
