Body found in flat: Cops register FIR against doctor for woman’s murder
Kotwali police on Saturday repeatedly questioned surgeon Dr Deependu Mitra, one Sonu Singh and mother of the deceased woman. In the evening the woman’s mother submitted a complaint with the police alleging that her daughter was killed in the flat. Based, on her complaint an FIR has been registered against the doctor, police officials said.
The Kotwali police have lodged a murder case against the doctor in whose flat in Rambhagh locality the body of a woman was found on November 24.
The case was registered on the complaint of woman’s mother late Saturday night. Investigations into the case have revealed some new facts, police said.

Meanwhile, questioning from Sonu Singh revealed that Dr Deependu Mitra was aware of the incident 24 hours before he informed police.
Sonu Singh informed police that Dr Mitra called him on November 23 and asked him to reach the flat in Rambagh. He told Sonu that he would also reach there shortly. Sonu reached the flat and he was informed from the neighbours and the staff at diagnostic centre on the ground floor of the building that some foul smell was emanating from the flat. Later, Sonu returned home when Dr Mitra did not reach there.
Dr Mitra himself reached Kotwali the next day and informed that his neighbours told him that some foul smell was coming out from his locked flat in Rambagh. No one opened the door despite repeated knocks, he told police.
It is worth mentioning that the naked body of 35-year-old woman identified as Sangeeta aka Bitola was found in the flat of Dr Deependu Mitra on November 24. The autopsy report revealed that the woman was strangled to death around a week back.
The owner of the flat Dr Mitra claimed that Sangeeta was living as a caretaker in the flat and he was unaware of her native place and her kin.
However, Sangeeta’s mother later reached mortuary and claimed that Dr Mitra knew her family.
Investigations have now revealed that Sangeeta’s mother had lodged a complaint with Dhumanganj police against Dr Mitra after Sangeeta went missing after her marriage around a few years back. Sangeeta returned home after some time and soon she divorced her husband and started living at the flat of Dr Mitra in Rambagh area.
