Gurugram: At least six bouncers of a nightclub in Sector 29 were booked for allegedly assaulting a couple after dragging them out of the premises in the wee hours of Tuesday, Gurugram police said.
According to police, a passer-by alerted the police control room after spotting the couple in injured condition after which a patrolling team reached the spot and took them to the DLF police station in Sector 29. Later, police took them to a government hospital in Sector 10A for first-aid. Police said no suspects have been arrested in the case.
The couple, identified as Chetan Tokas and his fiancée Anjali, had cleared their bills and were leaving the club at about 2am, when an altercation broke out between the man and the bouncers, police added.
Police said that soon the altercation turned into a scuffle and several bouncers allegedly assaulted Tokas.
Investigators said that Anjali tried to intervene but some female bouncers overpowered her and she was also assaulted.
The couple had alleged that the bouncers assaulted them even after dragging them out of the club premises.
On a complaint made by Anjali, an FIR against the unidentified bouncers was registered under Section 34 (common intention), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at DLF police station on Tuesday afternoon, said police.
The complainant had alleged in the FIR that she can identify most of the bouncers who had assaulted both of them.
HT tried to contact the couple but Anjali’s mobile phone was switched off and Tokas’s phone was out of reach.
Meanwhile, Sachin Limbu, the general manager of the club, refuted the allegations of assault.
“All the guests had left as it was time for the club to close but the couple insisted on hanging around for some more time,” Limbu said.
Limbu alleged that it was almost 3am when the couple was finally escorted out of the club. “Our club has CCTV footage of the entire incident and we will hand it over to the police,” he said.
Sub-inspector Rakesh Kumar, additional station house officer of DLF police station, said that an investigation is presently underway and police will take necessary action.
Police said Tokas is a resident of Munirka in Delhi, while Anjali lives in Sector 12 in Gurugram.
