An officer said police suspect the involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang behind the firing over extortion demands.

The gym owner’s friend had received calls demanding 2 crore in “protection money” from a caller who identified himself as Harry Boxer, a key member of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Nobody was injured in the firing, the officer said.

At least three bullets were fired at the iron shutter of the gym, shattering the glass door behind. The incident came to light when the gym opened, and the owner alerted the police.

A case was registered under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act at the Chhawla police station following a complaint by the owner.
