GHAZIABAD: The 82-km long Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project linking Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut will have five entry/exit points at Ghaziabad station, officials said on Saturday.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has undertaken the project and it is estimated to cater to about 800,000 passengers on a daily basis, once fully operational.
NCRTC officials added that the Sarai Kale Khan station in Delhi will also have five entry/exit points for the convenience of commuters.
Both Sarai Kale Khan and Ghaziabad stations will also have multi-modal transport integration facilities and Ghaziabad will be the only station in the jurisdiction of the state of Uttar Pradesh to have five entry/exit points, officials added.
NCRTC officials said that the Begum Pul (underground) station in Meerut and Duhai station in Ghaziabad will have four entry/exit points. The entire stretch will have 25 stations, sources added.
“We are providing a minimum two entry/exit points at all RRTS stations and the numbers can be increased in accordance with estimated footfall of passengers. The Ghaziabad station will be the biggest station in the 17-km ‘priority’ section and will also be linked to different modes of transport and will act as a multi-modal hub,” said Puneet Vats, NCRTC chief public relations officer.
Work on the ‘priority’ section from Sahibabad to Duhai is moving at a fast pace and will be the country’s first RRTS stretch to open up for passenger operations in March 2023, officials said.
The entry/exit gates in Ghaziabad station will also have facilities such as ramps and tactile paths to ensure seamless and accessible travel for physically challenged and visually impaired passengers.
Ghaziabad station is likely to be one of the busiest RRTS stations in the entire 82-km corridor.
