Ludhiana jail authorities on Wednesday caught four inmates who were trying to smuggle mobile phones into the jail by stashing them in their rectum area.

The jail staff recovered four phones from the possession of the accused while frisking them when they were brought back to the jail from a court hearing, while a mobile phone was recovered from the barrack.

The accused have been identified as Avinash Jhaw, Rohit Thakur, Jaswinder Singh and Gurdeep Singh.

Assistant jail superintendent Inderpreet Singh said the police have registered a case under Section 52 A(1) of the Prison Act against four accused and an unidentified person at the Division Number 7 police station.
