Ludhiana | Robbery bid foiled, 2 arrested

The arrested robbers assaulted an employee with a sharp-edged weapon in an attempt to snatch the cash in Model Town area in Ludhiana

Employees of a bank with the help of locals foiled a robbery bid and nabbed two men in Model Town area on Monday evening.

On being informed the Model Town police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Manoj Kumar, manager of Airtel Payment Bank, Cheema Chowk, said that one of the employees, Aman along with a driver Babbal had gone to the Axis Bank in Model Town to deposit ₹60,000 in cash. Aman was going to the bank while Babbal remained outside.

When Aman was about to enter the bank, the robbers who were already present there assaulted him with a sharp-edged weapon in an attempt to snatch the cash. Aman resisted and raised an alarm. Meanwhile locals gathered there and nabbed them. Locals thrashed the accused before handing them over to the police.

Aman has been admitted to a hospital.

Sub-inspector Balwinder Singh, SHO at Model Town police station, said police will lodge an FIR after investigation. The police are questioning the suspects nabbed by the locals.
