With focus on finalising development and beautification projects for a grand Mahakumbh-2025, public representatives too have come up with their suggestions in this regard.

They have proposed new bridges, railway over and under bridges besides road widening at specific sites among others. These suggestions were shared during a meeting held at Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) at the Prayagraj Mela Authority office under U.P. cabinet Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi on Monday.
During the meeting, the minister instructed the officials to include the suggestions given by the public representatives, including MPs Keshari Devi Patel and Rita Bahuguna Joshi as well as MLAs Harsh Vardhan Bajpai and Praveen Patel besides mayor Abhilasha Gupta, in the proposals being made by them as part of the preparations for Mahakumbh-2025.
Taking note of the fact that footfalls of tourists had increased in Prayagraj since Kumbh 2019, the public representatives suggested that a tourist police station should be set up on priority for the benefit of the visitors. They also urged that a concrete action plan be made to allow entry of visitors to the fair area directly from the airport so that the tourists coming by flights face no problems.
Suggestions for ancient temples to be identified and beautified as well as signages in other Indian languages too besides Hindi and English being put up were also given. The problem of traffic jams at Jhonstonganj also came up during the discussion and the public representative suggested that a flyover be built here to resolve the issue permanently.
They also recommended that an action plan to deal with the problem of traffic jams at Leprosy Mission intersection be also made. Other recommendations included widening of Arail road, enhancement of facilities at Chheoki railway station and beautification work from Balua Ghat to Baradari.
“Mahakumbh-2025 needs to be better and grander than Kumbh-2019. So, start working on the plans from now itself,” said Nand Gopal Gupta to the officials present in the meeting. Divisional commissioner Sanjay Goyal; IG Rakesh Kumar; DM Sanjay Kumar Khatri and CEO of Prayagraj Mela Authority and vice-chairman of Prayagraj development Authority Arvind Kumar Chauhan were prominent among those who attended the meeting.
The minister also asked the divisional commissioner to ensure that all works get undertaken in coordination with different departments to avoid any of them hindering the work of the other. Phulpur MP Keshari Devi Patel suggested that issues of sewer, water and electricity supply, construction of roads in the villages of Jhunsi, Naini and Phaphamau also be undertaken besides starting the airport flyover before the Mahakumbh. Expanding the passenger and flight handling capacity of Bamrauli airport was also recommended.
