A 60-year-old woman in Shahdara was allegedly killed by her son while she was trying to intervene in a fight between her son and his wife, said the police on Thursday.

Police said the accused, Sher Ali, works as a tailor in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh and is on the run. The deceased was identified as Hamidun Nisha.
An officer said police received a call on Wednesday evening from the New Seemapuri area, where a woman alleged that her brother had assaulted her mother.
“A fight broke out between the accused and his wife. As the man was beating his wife, his mother intervened and tried to pacify him. However, he hit her and pushed her to the floor. She suffered injuries to her head,” said the officer, adding that the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Police said a case of murder has been registered, and raids are being conducted to catch Ali.
