Three held for causing gunshot injury to youth in Prayagraj

The accused were going on a bike when the illegal firearm they were carrying went off resulting in bullet injury to the youth standing near the puja pandal, police said.

Utraon police on Wednesday morning arrested three persons who allegedly shot at a youth outside a puja pandal on Tuesday. A country made pistol has been recovered from the accused. Awdhesh Yadav received bullet injury in his leg on Tuesday evening and an FIR was lodged in this connection against gangster Lalla and his two aides.

Police officials said a resident of Utraon area, Lavkush Yadav aka Lalla is a notorious criminal. He has 12 criminal cases including Gangster Act registered against him at different police stations.

On Tuesday, Lalla and his aides Sherababu and Sachin were roaming on a bike with an illegal firearm and they also passed near a puja pandal at Leelwar Aasepur village where people had assembled on occasion of Dussehra.

DCP (trans-Ganga) Abhishek Bharti said Awdhesh Yadav, resident of Beenda village, received a bullet in his leg when loaded firearm of Lalla went off accidentally. Lalla and his aides fled the spot after the incident. However, locals recognised him and informed police.
