Vrindavan to have Bankey Behari Dham on KV pattern: CM Yogi

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said Bankey Behari Dham will be developed in Vrindavan town of Mathura district on the pattern of Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi.
He also said projects worth ₹32,000 crore were underway in the Braj region and, on completion, they would revive the grandeur and divinity of Mathura as seen during the ‘Dwapar era’.
Adityanath made these points while addressing three public meetings in the Braj region of western Uttar Pradesh at Agra, Mathura and Firozabad where he sought votes for BJP candidates contesting the two-phase urban local bodies’ elections to be held on May 4 and 11.
He addressed the first public meeting at Mathura where local BJP MP and actor Hema Malini was present.
“The Braj region will regain its splendour of the Dwapar era (a mythological period when Lord Krishna lived in Braj) with projects costing about ₹32,000 crore. Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad, a body constituted to streamline development, is transforming the face of Mathura-Vrindavan,” he said.
“With all agreeing to it, Bankey Behari Dham (corridor) will be developed in Vrindavan on the pattern of Kashi Vishwanath Dham,” he said.
The Bankey Behari Dham (Corridor) is being proposed to streamline heavy inflow of devotees at Bankey Behari temple.
“It is our responsibility to bring back the splendor of Barsana, Gokul, and Govardhan. This municipal election is important from this point of view,” he said.
“Since independence, during the tenure of various governments, the corrupt and impoverished system had halted Mathura’s development. The formation of Mathura Vrindavan Municipal Corporation in 2017 and then the Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad have taken forward the action plan of overall development in Mathura,” he said.
Asserting that ₹35 lakh crore investment proposals worth ₹35 lakh crore were received in U.P. through the Global Investors Summit held in February, the chief minister said that with this investment, 50,000 youngsters would get employment in Braj region alone.
He urged people to vote for BJP candidates and form a triple-engine government.
Underlining respect for heritage, he said, “India has changed today, and we must join this process of change as well. Today, major infrastructure and construction projects like airports, IITs, and AIIMS are finished within schedule. Places like Kashi, Ayodhya, Kedarnath, and Mahakal are rejuvenated as a result of respect for heritage. This is the new India.”
Maintaining that today the country’s economy has become strong, the chief minister said, “Since 2014, India has become self-sufficient. The potential of UP and new India must be combined.”
The chief minister also said Jawahar Bagh in Mathura had once been a ‘hub of hooliganism.’
(The Jawahar Bagh incident took place on June 2, 2016 when police attempted to evict squatters led by self-styled Swadheen Bharat Subhash Sena leader Ram Vriksha Yadav from the Mathura park.
As many 29 people, including two police officials, were killed in the exercise.)
“Today the situation is in front of all of you. Earlier, there used to be riots in Kosi Kala. Now, the world’s largest manufacturing plant (of) PepsiCo has been set up in Kosi Kala,” he said.
“Our government banned the sale of meat-liquor in Mathura and Vrindavan. No one is allowed to play with the sanctity of this place. Not only in Ayodhya, but also in Braj, the “84 Kosi parikrama” will take place today,” he added.
Lambasting the previous government, the CM said, “Before 2017, there used to be terror of miscreants, today it is a safe city. Earlier there used to be heaps of garbage, today it is a smart city.”
Addressing a similar public meeting in Firozabad, he said the BJP regime was implementing welfare schemes without any discrimination.
“We have made the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi our mission in Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
In a veiled attack on the Samajwadi Party, he alleged that in past, youngsters had ‘tamancha’ (firearms) but now they have tablets. He promised growth and employment for the glass industry of Firozabad.
In Agra, the chief minister mentioned a museum named after Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and said the city was known for its history linked to the Maratha ruler.
“Agra has changed a lot and successfully hosted meeting of delegates from G20 nations,” he said.
He assured early completion of ongoing Agra Metro Rail project.
