The viral video showed individuals frantically attempting to retrieve bundles of currency notes that had been submerged in water for a considerable amount of time. In the footage, both men and women, as well as children, could be seen competing for as many notes as possible, despite their deteriorated condition. The scene played out in knee-deep water and garbage beneath the Moradabad bridge of the Sone Canal.

It should be noted, however, that Hindustan Times could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.

Early morning walkers stumbled upon a pile of currency notes in denominations of 20, 100, and 500 inside a jute bag under a bridge, prompting them to start fishing the bundles and rushing home to dry them. As the news spread, a crowd of locals gathered at the site to collect as many notes as they could. While some locals claimed that the notes were genuine, others suggested that they could be counterfeit and may have been planted to cause panic.
