Authorities are developing Hadapsar railway station as a fully operational satellite terminal for long-distance trains to decongest Pune railway station that currently sees among the highest train operation volumes in the region.
Special trains became operational from Hadapsar during Diwali apart from regulars like the Hyderabad Express and Jodhpur Express.
The fourth platform, about 450 metres long, will be built on the Magarpatta side and a new road will be laid for better access. A pedestrian bridge will connect all four platforms.
