Pune: In a pre-emptive move ahead of the upcoming festivals, including Holi and Ramadan, the Pune police have taken action against nine criminals by ordering their externment from the city and district limits for two years. The decision aims to prevent any potential spike in criminal activity during the celebratory period.

According to police sources, Jalindar More, Anna alias Ganraj Sunil Thakar, Omkar Sanas, Raju Dengale, Akash Kamble, Krushna Lokhande, Aryan Beldare, Somgunda Chaudhari and Sahil Ashtage had been involved in serious criminal activities, including attempted murder, robbery, causing grievous hurt, threats, unlawful possession of weapons and other offences that had created fear among local residents.

They were reportedly key figures in violent and gang-related incidents in areas such as Bibwewadi, Ambegaon and Market Yard.
