Schools and junior colleges have been strictly instructed not to charge any fee or collect money from students while issuing School Leaving Certificates (SLC) and marksheets. The education department on Tuesday warned of strict administrative action against institutions found violating the instructions.

The department has received complaints alleging that some schools are illegally collecting money from students for issuing SLC and marksheets. Officials reiterated the directions issued under the government circular dated June 5, 2025. As per the guidelines, issuing SLC and marksheets is a mandatory responsibility of schools and junior colleges, and no charges should be levied on students for the same.
