As per the complaint filed by Kunal Madre, manager at Metro Hotel, the cops entered the premises as he was about to shut the eatery at around 1.15 am on November 21. As the staff was busy cleaning the place, the trio demanded liquor from Madre, who informed them that the place was shut. However, the three were in no mood to take a no and forced the complainant to open the bar counter and serve them liquor. According to Madre, the cops allegedly abused hotel staffers and created a ruckus.

After learning about the incident, senior police inspector Ajit Lakde of Mundhwa Police Station, police inspector (crime) Pradeep Kakde and Sub-Inspector Shivaji Kate visited the spot.

A case has been registered at Mundhwa police station under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), and section 85-1 of the Bombay Prohibition Act.
