The state Excise Department on Wednesday seized imported liquor worth 1.05 crore which was being smuggled in a truck from Goa. The liquor which was manufactured in the neighbouring state was stocked up in a container that was apprehended by the Talegaon Dabhade sleuths near Hotel Shantai on Pune-Mumbai Expressway.

According to the excise department officials, the total consignment is estimated to be worth 1.05 crore, which was stored in the truck bearing number MH 46-6138.

Cops have arrested the truck driver, identified as Pravin Pawar and his assistant Devidas Bhosale under Maharashtra Prohibition Act 1949.

Excise superintendent Charansingh Rajput said “During the raid, we seized 4,164 whiskey bottles of 750 ml, 5,760 sealed whiskey bottles of 180 ml, and another 9,600 bottles kept in 1,267 boxes,” he added.
