Four arrested for broad daylight heist, ₹14 lakh recovered

Days after a cloth merchant was waylaid and stripped of a staggering ₹14 lakh (cash) in a bold, daylight robbery, the Pimpri-Chinchwad police have not only managed to arrest four accused in connection with the heist but also recovered the stolen cash.

The arrested individuals, have been identified as Suhas Navnath Jogdand (22), Aditya Santosh Ghaytadak (21) both are resident of resident of Pimpri, Aman Ajim Sheikh (20) resident of Ramkrishna Nagar Pimpri and Ganesh Bhunga Kamble (21) resident of Kalewadi.
The daring incident unfolded on 18 October at around 6:30 pm when a cloth merchant Mohandas Sirumal Tejwani (62) resident of Vijay Nagar Kalewadi was on his way home carrying cash worth ₹14 lakh on a motorcycle.
When he was near Balaji Laws Kalewadi, two unknown thieves collided their motorcycle with Tejwani and snatched his bag carrying money. Immediately after the incident, Wakad police have formed teams to identify thieves.
During technical analysis and CCTV footates analysis, Police identified motorcycles used by accused during crime. AFter collecting more details about the motorcycle police identified Jogdand and Ghaytak and arrested them along with their motorcycle from Kalewadi area.
Police told, during interrogation of both accused names of the remaining two accused including Sheikh and Kambale came into light and consequently they were arrested. Police have recovered 10,40,000 cash from them and seized motorcycles used in crime.
Kakasaheb Dole, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) said, “Earlier there were attempts of robbery with the same businessman. Inspiring from that incident his worker Ghaytak hatched plan along with others and committed crime.’’
Dole further told that, Ghaytak knows that when and from which route Tejwani wnt home carrying cash with him, according to which he hatched a robbery plan.
During further investigation, it was found that 10 cases have been registered against Kambale, three cases registered against Sheikh and one case has been registered against Ghaytadak at various police stations across the city. Search of Sheikh and Kambale were going on as they were wanted in Nigdi, and two cases were registered at Sangvi police stations.
