Four family members electrocuted while trying to save one another in Phaltan

Four members of a family were electrocuted while attempting to rescue one another after an electric shock at their home in Khamgaon village of Phaltan taluka in Satara district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Satish alias Pisuradya Kisan Shinde (45), his wife Gangu (40), son Sachin (26) and daughter Aarti (24). The family lived in Sakharwadi in Khamgaon.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred around 6 am when Satish Shinde was removing or fitting an electric bulb inside the house and suffered an electric shock. As he collapsed, his wife and two children rushed to help but also came into contact with the live current and were electrocuted. All four died on the spot.
Police and local authorities reached the house after being alerted by residents. The bodies were sent for post-mortem, and an accidental death report is being registered.
Police said the exact cause of the electrocution is yet to be established and are investigating whether faulty wiring or another technical lapse led to the tragedy.
