Over 1.05 lakh students selected in RTE 25% admission lottery
According to official data, a total of 2.89 lakh applications were received against 1.14 lakh available seats
The state school education department announced on Saturday that over 1.05 lakh children have secured admissions under the 25% Right To Education (RTE) Act quota for the 2026–27 academic year.
According to official data, a total of 2.89 lakh applications were received against 1.14 lakh available seats. Of these, 1,05,229 students have been selected under the general category, while 582 children have been selected under the children with disabilities category. Additionally, 86,004 students have been placed on the waiting list in the general category and 30 under the special category.
The lottery process was conducted on April 6, and parents of selected students will begin receiving SMS notifications on their registered mobile numbers.
However, officials have advised parents not to rely solely on SMS alerts and to verify selection status on the official RTE admission portal.
Parents must visit designated verification centres, including group education officers and administrative offices, to complete document verification through the scrutiny committee. Only after successful verification will students be granted final admission approval online.
The education department has urged parents to complete the admission process before April 20.
