‘Pakistan-made’ beauty creams seized in Maharashtra's Pimpri-Chinchwad, shop owner booked

The Pimpri-Chinchwad police’s anti-terrorism branch (ATB) seized 23 packs of beauty cream bearing a “Made in Pakistan” label from a shop in Pimpri on Wednesday and booked the shopkeeper for allegedly selling the prohibited products.

The seized creams, valued at ₹12,650, were recovered from Shakti Cosmetics near the PMPML bus stop on River Road, Pimpri. A case was registered at Pimpri police station against shopkeeper Prakash Manoharlal Guru, 39, of Gaillard Chowk, Pimpri.

According to police, the ATB received information that beauty creams bearing the “Made in Pakistan” label were being sold at the shop. Acting on the information, an ATB team, with assistance from Pimpri police, raided the premises.

During the search, police found 23 packs of the cream, each carrying a printed price of ₹550. The products were seized and a case was subsequently registered against Guru, police said.

Sub-inspector Abhijit Kene is investigating the case.

Deputy commissioner of police Dheeraj Patil of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Special Branch confirmed the action.

Police said the Union ministry of commerce and industry, through a notification issued on May 2, 2025, prohibited the import of all types of goods from Pakistan into India.
