Pune Police arrest 2 members of Nilesh Ghaywal gang
Acting on a tip-off, the police traced one of the accused, Amol Dattatray Lakhe, 27, a resident of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, to Solapur district
Warje-Malwadi police on Thursday arrested two members of the Nilesh Ghaywal gang who had been evading capture for the past four months. Police said the accused were wanted for multiple serious offences and had been booked under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). They were apprehended at Barshi in Solapur district.
According to the police, the accused were wanted for multiple registered offences at Warje-Malwadi and Kondhwa police stations. Acting on a tip-off, the police traced one of the accused, Amol Dattatray Lakhe, 27, a resident of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, to Solapur district. A police team was dispatched and successfully apprehended him. His interrogation led to the arrest of the other gang member.
Mahesh Bolkotgi , senior police inspector at Warje-Malwadi police station, said, “ Lakhe was booked in an MCOCA case at the Warje-Malwadi police station in 2025. Since then he had been absconding. On Wednesday, we received information about his hideout. Our team rushed to Barshi and arrested him.”
The accused were booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and provisions of the Arms Act and MCOCA.
