On Monday night police conducted a combing operation to clear all illegal elements in the city ahead of the G20 summit. During the combing operation, officers from Zone 1 got information that a hardware shop in Bohri Ali was illegally selling Koytas without permission.

Based on the information, a team of police officers from Crime Branch Unit 1 led by police inspector Sandeep Bhosale raided a hardware store in Bohri Ali and seized 105 sickles worth 45,800. They also arrested the accused, Hussain Rajgara, a resident of Undri.

“Recently, in areas such as Sinhagad Road, Bharti Vidyapeeth, Samarth, Faraskhana, and Deccan, many criminals have been using Koyta to create terror among the common people,” police officials said.

“We have decided to crack down on them as many of them continued to post videos of such weapons on social media. According to this, we raided the shop and confiscated the Koytas.”

During further interrogation, police discovered that the accused did not have any permission to sell the weapons from his shop.

A case against the accused has been registered at Faraskhana police station under sections of the Arms Act and Maharashtra Police act and further investigation in this regard is underway.
