Pune police arrests criminal involved in various house break-ins

A team from unit 3 of the Crime Branch of Pune Police on Monday apprehended Jaywant alias Jaidya alias JD Govardhan Gaikwad, a 34-year-old resident of Aundh, for his involvement in 80 house break-in cases.

According to the police, they have solved five house break-in cases and seized gold ornaments worth ₹11 lakh, weighing 20 gm form the accused.

Gaikwad was arrested at Bhumkar Chowk area in Narhe after assistant police inspector Santosh Kshirsagar received information about his whereabouts. The police team laid a trap and detained him. During the search, they found a screwdriver, an adjustable spanner, and a metal weapon on him.

Upon questioning, the accused confessed to committing house thefts within the limits of Sinhagad Road, Talegaon Dabhade, and Sangvi police stations. The case is currently under investigation by police sub-inspector Ajitkumar Patil.
