PUNE As the Pune Regional Transport (RTO) officer Ajit Shinde retired on July 31, since then there is no new appointment by the state transport department. As a result, the permanent license and vehicle Registration Certificate (RC) smart cards are not being issued as the signature of RTO is mandatory on each card. In the last five days, the pendency has gone to more than 12,000 cards.

“I bought a new bike two weeks ago and I had to get the RC book in eight days but still I have not got it,” said Rohan Nalawade, a city resident.

Another permanent license applicant Keshav Joglekar said, “I gave the permanent license test last month and still I have not yet got the license by post at home.”

A senior official from the state transport department requesting anonymity, said, “As the Pune division has been divided into three divisions the process is taking time for the appointment of the new officer. Hopefully, the orders will be issued this week.”
