Pune: The state education department has announced the summer vacation and reopening schedule for the 2026–27 academic year for all state board schools across Maharashtra.

According to an official circular issued on March 28, summer vacation will begin on May 2, 2026, and the new academic year will commence on June 15, 2026.

The directive aims to ensure uniformity in the academic calendar. Schools affiliated with other boards may follow their own schedules if they have ongoing academic activities.

Due to high temperatures in the Vidarbha region in June, special instructions have been issued: from June 15 to June 29, schools in Vidarbha will operate in the morning session, 7 am to 11:45 am, with regular timings resuming from June 30, 2026.

The education department has asked all authorities to inform recognised schools under their jurisdiction and ensure proper implementation of the schedule.
