On the second day of the legislative session, Leader of Opposition Ajit Pawar raised the issue of ‘Koyta Gang’ terror in the House through an adjournment motion. There is terror of ‘Koyta Gang’ in Pune city and surrounding suburbs, causing fear among people.

Former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday said, “The ‘Koyta Gang’ roams the streets night and day, participates in violent activities like robbing women of jewellery, stealing, looting, vandalising cars, ransacking hotels without paying food bills. Strict action should be taken by the cops to maintain law and order in the state and to prevent the proliferation of ‘Koyta Gang’. Their terror must be broken at any cost.”
Taking Pawar’s statement into consideration, Pune police commissioner Retesh Kumaar on Tuesday made a note of complaints related to ‘Koyta Gang’ terror in Hadapsar and requests by area residents to book its members under the MCOCA Act.
Kumaar who was briefed about the gang menace by a section of reporters said that he would look into the matter and instructed Joint CP (law and order ) Sandeep Karnik to initiate steps in the direction of putting curbs on the gang.

complaining that ordinary citizens were harassed by chopper-welding youths that target commuters and wayfarers at secluded spots and public places in Hadapsar. Some citizens even shared videos on social media, showing the accused harassing citizens. They complained that the gang members were stealing gold ornaments from women and threatening grocery store traders, vegetable vendors, and kiosk operators for extortion.
