Vehicles to be diverted on service road for girder installation work at Chandani Chowk

Traffic on the service road will be regulated from July 4-15 for the construction of the Main Bridge girder for the Chandani Chowk Project on the Pune-Satara National Highway. Pune district collector Rajesh Deshmukh has urged citizens to use alternative service road.

In order to facilitate the construction of the Main Bridge girder for the Chandani Chowk Project on the Pune-Satara National Highway, it has been decided to regulate traffic on the service road from July 4 to July 15. The traffic service on the main road will be regulated from 12:30 am to 3:30 am for three hours during this period. Pune district collector Rajesh Deshmukh has urged citizens to use alternative service road during this period.

Deshmukh held a meeting on Wednesday through television system to discuss traffic diversion in relation to the bridge construction at Chandani Chowk. The meeting was attended by Pune rural superintendent of police Ankit Goyal, Pune city traffic branch deputy commissioner Vijay Kumar Magar, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) project director Sanjay Kadam, Pimpri-Chinchwad deputy commissioner of police Kakasaheb Aje, assistant commissioner traffic Vitthal Kubde and other senior officials.

“An integrated structure bridge is being constructed at Chandani Chowk junction in Pune city under NHAI’s Bharatmala Project under Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India. Around 95 per cent of the work has been completed and it is in the final stage. The work of the new NDA-Pashan main bridge (vehicular overpass) has been completed up to the substructure level and the superstructure work is in progress,” said Deshmukh.

“Accordingly, the decision to change the traffic has been taken. During this period only the traffic of multi-axle vehicles will be blocked for three hours. These vehicles will be stopped at Mumbai Expressway, Talegaon Toll Gate and Mumbai-Pune Old Highway, Somatne Toll Gate and vehicles coming from Satara will be stopped at Khed Shivapur Toll Gate,” he added.
