Vehicle dispute escalates into clash in Gultekdi; four injured

Pune: A dispute between two groups over moving a vehicle escalated into a violent clash in lane number 1 of Meenatai Thackeray Vasahat in Gultekdi on Wednesday afternoon, leaving four people seriously injured, police said on Thursday.

The Swargate police have registered separate cases of attempt to murder against 14 people from both groups and arrested two persons.

The first complaint was lodged by Keshav Anil Shivsharan, 20, of Meenatai Thackeray Vasahat. Based on his complaint, police arrested Rohit Gambhir Singh, 28, and booked five of his alleged associates.

The incident took place around 4pm. Rahul Dhone and Akshay Kamble sustained serious injuries in the attack, police said.

According to the complaint, the two groups live in close proximity. Shivsharan allegedly asked Rohit to move their vehicle aside while he was passing through the area. Police said the accused took offence to the remark and allegedly attacked Shivsharan, Dhone and Kamble with sharp weapons and wooden sticks, besides kicking and punching them.

The accused allegedly threatened the victims and created panic in the locality, the complaint stated.

Police registered a case against six people under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

In a counter-complaint, Rohit approached the Swargate police, alleging that he and his associates had been attacked by another group. Based on his complaint, police arrested Sagar Kadam and booked eight people for attempt to murder. Darshan Sutar and Sandesh Meshram sustained serious injuries in the second incident, police said.

According to the second complaint, Singh and his friends were standing in the area when Kadam and others allegedly confronted them and attacked Singh and his associates with sharp weapons, concrete blocks, paving stones and wooden sticks, besides kicking and punching them, causing serious injuries.
