Respect for each other must for stable alliance, says Cong in-charge Pande
Jharkhand Congress in-charge Avinash Pande on Sunday said that respect of party workers was paramount and mutual respect among allies was a prerequisite for a stable alliance.
RANCHI: Urging leaders and workers to strengthen the party organisation by making the ongoing membership drive a success, Jharkhand Congress in-charge Avinash Pande said on Sunday that respect of party workers was paramount and mutual respect among allies was a prerequisite for a stable alliance.

Addressing party workers as part of the ‘Samwad’ programme across the five divisions of the state at Dumka, Pande underlined it was important to strengthen and expand the organisational reach of Congress in the state with an eye on the 2024 general elections.
“The alliance would get strengthened only when each worker gets the due respect. And if anything is found wanting on that front or in implementation of a public welfare scheme, then we always have the choice of taking the way shown by Gandhi ji. The alliance would get stronger, only when all constituents of the alliance gain strength. Only then we can take on the BJP’s ideology,” said Pande.
“Breaking away from the alliance is not the only way out. But the day you get the confidence that we have the organisational strength across the state to win the confidence of people’s trust, no one will be able to stop you. But for that we need to execute the programmes and follow the party leadership,” Pande added.
Suggesting the party leaders to make the ongoing membership drive a success, Pande underscored that their performance would be appraised by the leadership while granting posts and responsibilities in the organisation in the future.
Pande took over the charge of Jharkhand Congress after former in-charge and senior leader RPN Singh crossed over to the BJP earlier this year. On his third visit to the state after taking over in less than two months after taking over, Pande has been holding consultations with the party leaders, workers amidst discontent in the rank and file about their varied grievances including those against the incumbent state government.
Congress is the second biggest constituent JMM-Congress-RJD combined government led by Hemant Soren and has four ministers in the Cabinet. Several party leaders including party legislators have in recent months raised questions in public about problems in the state of affairs in the government.
Addressing the gathering in Dumka, state Congress president Rajesh Thakur said the idea of the division-level Samwad was to gather feedback of the party workers.
“This is a platform to air your grievances, which will be taken up before the government and party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi,” added Thakur.
Informing about the party’s programme, party spokesperson M Tauseef said Pande would be addressing a similar Samwad programme in Ranchi, headquarter of the South Chhotanagpur division on Monday. “The first meeting happened in Hazaribag on Saturday. On Monday, he will meet party workers in Ranchi. On March 12 and 13, he would be addressing similar programmes in Palamu and Chaibasa,” he added.
