Women beat up rape, murder accused at court

About 50 women from Kantatoli in the state capital on Wednesday assembled on the Ranchi civil court premises to punish one Gandhi Oraon, a prime suspect in the gang rape and murder of an eight-year-old tribal girl on February 19.

Ranchi police had on Tuesday arrested Oraon, who was to be produced before the court on Wednesday. The women were camping outside the court room. They raised slogans and thrashed Oraon before he was rescued. Oraon was produced before court and sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
