“There were some threats that there could be terrorist attacks during the cricket match. So, we had sent our team to Jaipur to see what all security arrangements had been made there.

“It would be better if we have all the information regarding security cover for the match in Jaipur,” Khandwawala told reporters in Gandhinagar.

“There is a (cricket) match on February 27. We will ensure that the match is conducted safely,” he said, adding that based on information from Jaipur his department had updatet the security teams.

The one-day international coincides with Holi, which is on February 28 in the state.

With regard to security during festivals, the DGP said, “For the last few years, we have seen that in Gujarat we have been able to celebrate festivals safely. It is always better to take precautions.

“We have intensified checking in the city since the last few days.

“And I hope that with all the precautions that we are taking, the festival and cricket match will pass off peacefully without any problem,” Khandwawala said.
