Opting to bat first, Afghanistan scored 253/7 in 50 overs thanks to a fifty from Rahmat Shah and a 52-ball-48 from skipper Mohammad Nabi. The Afghanistan batsmen looked quite comfortable from the beginning and Chris Mpofu (3/46) was the only Zimbabwe bowler who was able to pose a threat to the visitors.

In reply, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 54 in 13.5 overs with just two batsmen scoring in double digits. It was an inspired performance by the Afghanistan bowlers who now hold the record for the least overs taken to bowl a side out in ODIs.
