Bhuvneshwar Kumar tips key in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s good bowling: Siddarth Kaul
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s bowlers shone through yet again as they defended 152 against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh stadium on Sunday to back up their earlier efforts of defending 118 and 132 against Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab. (RR vs SRH IPL 2018 HIGHLIGHTS)
The 11-run win propelled Sunrisers Hyderabad to the top of the table and the feat of defending low totals is remarkable considering that Kane Williamson’s side have missed their spearhead Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the last three games due to injury. Siddarth Kaul, who became the Purple Cap owner following his 2/23, has credited Bhuvneshwar’s influence for the team’s magnificent bowling show despite not featuring in the playing XI. Speaking in the post-match press conference, Kaul said, “Bhuvneshwar is helping us all the time, when he is playing with the team and in the nets. It is a big advantage when a player having international exposure gives us tips in a particular situation. When he offers us advice, it helps us immensely for players who have started their career,” Kaul said.
Good preparation the key
In all the three games where Sunrisers Hyderabad have defended totals, the likes of Kaul, Sandeep Sharma, Rashid Khan and Shakib Al Hasan have taken wickets at regular intervals in addition to maintaining a great economy rate. Kaul, whose economy rate in the three games were 5.75, 6.25 and 5.75, said good preparation was the key.
“Any over that is given to the bowlers, be it the first or the last over, they are doing their homework quite well. Everyone knows their role and when to bowl. They are clicking at the right time and it is a question of executing the skills at the right time,” Kaul said.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s next game will be against the Delhi Daredevils at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium in Uppal on May 5.
