As Dhoni walked up to inaugurate the pavilion, he was stopped by the scribe. Dhoni was asked by the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) to say a few words but he wanted to get down to warm-ups instead.

The journalist told Dhoni it was only fair on his part to say a few words and when Dhoni, who knew the journalist, disagreed, a heated exchange followed.

A visibly upset Dhoni did the honours before walking into the pavilion, where Tendulkar's photographs and jerseys are showcased. The KCA played down the incident.

The pavilion was KCA's way of participating in the farewell of Tendulkar, who also has a five-wicket haul in an ODI versus Australia at the venue. There was also a live music performance on the occasion.

Tight security
The number of fans that One-day cricket draws makes it a big challenge for the security officials and Kochi will be no different. The venue, originally a football stadium, usually attracts a massive crowd that keeps up the decibel level.

For better crowd management, fans will be forced to stay put till the game ends.
