The ICC has decided to hold a Test championship and dump the Champions Trophy, the last of which concluded recently in England.
The first edition of the Test championship is scheduled to be held in England in June-July 2017 while the second edition will be held in India in February-March 2021. However, a lot will depend on their interaction with the official TV broadcast rights holder, ESPN Star.
The ICC has also confirmed support for 'zing wickets' - which have flashing LEDs in bails and stumps - for ODIs and T20Is.
Among other recommendations, the apex body also re-iterated that the on-field umpires will take a call on ball tampering issue. The issue gained prominence during the recent Champions Trophy when umpire Aleem Dar changed the ball during an England-Sri Lanka game.
The ICC will hold 18 events between 2015 and 2023, including two World Cups, two Test Championships and two T20 World Cups. India host one of each — World T20 in 2016, World Test Championship in 2021 and World Cup in 2023.
