Virat Kohli and Jayant Yadav shattered records as India piled up 631. Kohli notched up his third double ton and ended up on 235, the highest individual score by an Indian in Tests against England. Jayant smashed his maiden century and shared a record 241-run stand with the Indian skipper. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin picked up two wickets each. 16:51 hrs IST: After the end of the day’s play, Jayant Yadav said, “Whenever you’re batting with Virat, things feel easier. When they were bowling short, he told me to pull, my instinct is to leave the ball. If you can contribute with the bat, any skill, you should work on it. I pride my wicket.”
16:42 hrs IST: India have not put a foot wrong today. From Virat Kohli’s brilliant 235 to Jayant Yadav’s maiden century, from Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja’s strikes, the hosts are firmly in the driver’s seat. For England, it is only a matter of time before they squander the series.

Ashwin floats a tossed up delivery and Stokes attempts the reverse sweep, he ends up hitting it onto his boot and the catch is taken by Vijay, the third umpire is called in and the soft signal is out, replays show that the ball lobbed off the boot to slip.

16:03 hrs IST: R Ashwin appeals for a catch and umpire Oxenford gives it out. Bairstow is not amused and he immediately reviews. No bat involved at all and he is well outside the line. Cook is not amused as the umpire reverses the decision.
16:00 hrs IST: Stokes is showing plenty of positive intent as he smashes a four and a six off Jayant Yadav.
15:53 hrs IST: Poor ball from Jayant. Short and wide delivery and Stokes muscles it past cover for a boundary. He gets going in style.
15:44 hrs IST: Jonny Bairstow has been given out caught behind. He reviews the decision. Jadeja’s front foot is over the line. No-ball signalled. Anyway, Real Time Snicko does not detect an edge.
15:40 hrs IST: WICKET! Jayant gets the big wicket of Root and India have finally broken the partnership.
Full and flat delivery slanted in, Root does not go fully back and plays all around the delivery, he gets hit on the pad and umpire Erasmus raises the finger. Vital strike this for India.

15:25 hrs IST: Another appeal and this time it is for an LBW. Kohli is having a long chat with Jayant and the bowler convinces him to use the appeal. Pitching in line but missing leg stump. India lose a review.
15:24 hrs IST: Loud appeal for a catch but not given. Kohli and Pujara have a discussion and they chat with Jayant, in the end, they decide not to review. Good decision as there was no bat involved. England 123/3, trail by 108 runs.
15:22 hrs IST: Jayant Yadav is into the attack. He will be high on confidence after the century.
15:18 hrs IST: In the air but safe! Ashwin gets some extra bounce and the ball spins back in, Root stabs at it and the inside edge lobs off the pad but falls safely at vacant short leg. Next ball, there is a short leg and Root attempts something similar but it goes over the fielder.
15:13 hrs IST: Root is giving an exhibition in batting in these conditions. It has been a very busy knock.
15:04 hrs IST: DROPPED! Difficult chance. Root attempts the reverse sweep and the ball hits the glove, Kohli at slip dives to his left but he fails to latch on to it.

14:59 hrs IST: Joe Root brings up his 26th fifty in style as he reverse sweeps Ashwin to the third man fence. On a difficult wicket, it has been a great knock. England 91/3, trail by 140 runs.
14:52 hrs IST: Third umpire called in for a stumping. Root was slightly unbalanced as he tries to leave a ball that kicks up from the deck. However, the batsman is safe.

Ashwin spins this one in and Root looks to work it to mid wicket, the ball hits the pad and lobs up to Parthiv who takes the catch, India appeal but umpire does not give it, replays show no bat and it was sliding past leg stump, India lose a review.
14:01 hrs IST: WICKET! Jadeja strikes and the England skipper is gone. Even a review cannot save him.
Flatter delivery and it spins back in, Cook shuffles across and looks to work it to the leg side, misses it and gets hit on the pad, umpire Oxenford gives it out and the skipper reviews, replays show it is hitting leg stump.

13:57 hrs IST: Just wide of leg slip! Jadeja fires into the pads and Cook looks to glance it to fine leg, the ball just goes past Vijay at leg slip for a boundary. Jadeja is causing big problems.
13:50 hrs IST: Jadeja is getting some vicious turn and bounce as Root gets beaten all ends up. At the other end, Ashwin has been introduced into the attack. There are puffs of dust coming out from the pitch.
