One of the perks of not having crowd at the venue during a cricket match is the stump microphone picking up even the smallest of conversations. India's stand-in skipper KL Rahul on Monday joined former India skippers Mohammad Azharuddin and Sunil Gavaskar in a unique list of captain after he was handed the responsibility to lead the Indian side in the second Test against South Africa in Johannesburg.

Rahul became the first Indian skipper since Azharuddin in 1990 to lead the Indian team in a Test match ahead of his debut appearance as a captain in the limited-overs game. Some of the other captains include Gavaskar, BS Bedi, Ajit Wadekar and a few others. (READ FULL STORY HERE)

Dean Elgar failed in the first innings at Centurion and played a crucial knock in the second. He managed to survive a tricky final hour yesterday and the skipper would look to continue pile more runs today. After all, he's the highest run-scorer on this ground across both the present squads

Yesterday, ahead of the toss, we came to know that Virat Kohli has been ruled out of this Test due to an upper back spasm. He would have played his 100th Test in the third and final game of the series had he played this game, but it wasn't to be.

Three innings in a row, Mohammed Shami has gotten the better of Aiden Markram in this Test series. in Centurion, Shami had Markram bowled twice and here at the Bull Ring, the India pacer trapped the SA opener out LBW. The whole bunny thing has already started doing the rounds.

The sun is currently peaking through the clouds - a bit of hide and seek going on at the moment - and although there is expected to be a bit of overcast conditions, we should get plenty on action on Day 2 at the Wanderers.

South Africa's batting has been a concern in the previous Test at Centurion. Had it shown a little more resistance, they could have had a chance to go 1-0 up. Their bowling unit is in no shortage of confidence as evident from the last two totals India have managed to put up, so a disciplined show by the batters here could really put the Kohli-less India under the pump.

An experienced wicketkeeper from India has given his take on Pujara and Rahane's poor run of form and feels the time has come for head coach Rahul Dravid to make some tough calls.

Although India bowled 18 overs and South Africa moved to 35/1, Bumrah, Shami and Siraj bowled well to induce a lot of play and misses. As the possibility of India being without one of their seamers is high, there will be added responsibility on Bumrah, Shami and Shardul Thakur to make up for Siraj's potential absence.

Former India opening batter Aakash Chopra has made a big prediction about Day 2 of the Test match, saying that he feels that India will concede a lead against South Africa. Even though the home team was bowled out for less than 200 in each inning of the first Test, Chopra backs Elgar and his men to nose ahead in the first innings of the Johannesburg Test.

In a blow to India, Mohammed Siraj walked off the field in the closing moments of the first day. As Siraj clutched his hamstring, the injury appeared bad. The BCCI however is yet to release any official information about the injury but R Ashwin said 'it's very immediate so initially what they do with these injuries is they just ice and see it for the next hour or two.'
