IND vs SA 2nd Test, Day 3 Highlights: Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane picked up where they left off on Day 2. They constantly found boundaries and as a result, not only did they take India past 100 but also brought up their 50-run stand. They then took India's lead past 100 in the 9th over of the day. Soon after, Pujara soared to his 32nd Test fifty off just 62 balls to keep India in command. After a few overs, Rahane smashed Olivier for two consecutive boundaries to bring their century stand and also get to his 25th Test 50. Right after the drinks break, the hosts finally got their breakthrough as Rabada dismissed Rahane on 58. Rabada then struck again, trapping Pujara LBW on 53. Ashwin hit 16 off 14 balls before Lungi Ngidi dismissed him at the stroke of lunch to leave India at 188/6 at Lunch with a lead of 161. Shardul Thakur came back out with all guns blazing, smashing 4 more fours and a six before being dismissed by Marco Jansen on 28. Then, Vihari and Mohammed Shami took India's lead past 200. Shami didn't last long as he was dismissed for a duck Jansen. The ninth wicket to fall was Jasprit Bumrah's, holing out to Jansen off Ngidi 7. Vihari (40*) piled further misery on the hosts before Ngidi cleaned up Siraj (0) to bowl the visitors out for 266. SA need 240 runs to win. In response, openers Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar took SA to 34/0 after 7 overs at Tea and batted with positive intent. A few overs into the final session, Thakur dismissed Markram on 31 to give the visitors their first breakthrough. India's joy was short-lived as Elgar and Petersen, like the first innings, stitched a stubborn stand to leave Indian bowlers yearning for their second breakthrough. At last, 46 runs later, Ashwin dismissed Petersen on 28. Eventually, Elgar and Rassie van der Dussen played out the last phase of the day's play, adding 25 runs for the third wicket to remain unbeaten on 46 and 11, respectively. SA ended the day at 118/2 and need 122 more runs to win.
