It doesn't seem that the pitch has any kinds of demons. Sri Lanka can bat the entire day provided that they negate the threat posed by Indian bowlers. Let's see how much resistance can Sri Lanka put up today. 

“The pitch is getting slower. The batter will get time to play his shots but the ball will spin due to the cracks. We will see a bit of turn,” says Sunil Gavaskar on the surface ahead of the start.

Third day in sub-continent Tests usually offers a lot of turn! Ashwin will be the key today. Also, he's just two wickets away from equalling Kapil Dev's record of 434 Test wickets for India. Anil Kumble is first on the list with 619 plucks, followed by Kapil and Ashwin.

On his evolution as batter, Jadeja says “Since the past 2-3 years, I've started to think about my Ranji knocks and how I can play such innings for India as well."

“You feel proud when you play such a marathon innings. I didn't plan anything but initially looked to build a partnership with Rishabh,” says a modest Jadeja on his batting brilliance. 

Virat Kohli, who made 45 on day one, can return to bat if the Indian bowlers bundle out the opposition for a lowly score today. Fans have been waiting to see Kohli tick off the elusive 71st century! His last international ton came on 22nd November 2019.

When India walked out to the field yesterday, the entire team stood together to give Kohli a guard of honour. What a moment!
