Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina are arguably the most successful batsmen in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and ahead of the 12th season, they will both be looking to add another accolade to their name.
So far, Kohli has scored 4948 runs in the tournament and he currently holds the second spot in the list of most runs scored by a player in the history of the competition. He needs just 37 runs to topple CSK’s Suresh Raina in this particular chart, who has 4985 runs to his name.

With Royal Challengers Bangalore taking on Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the tournament, both batsmen will have a chance to become the first to reach 5000 runs in the tournament. While Kohli needs 52 runs to reach the milestone, Raina have a slight advantage as he is just 15 runs away.

Kohli is also on the verge of equalling David Warner’s record of most 50+ scores in the IPL. Warner has went past the 50-run mark 39 times in the league and Kohli takes the second spot with 38 such scores.
