After Shardul Thakur conceded 13 runs in one over in the Qualifier 2 match against Delhi Capitals on Friday, the speedster was given another chance in the IPL final and Thakur didn’t disappoint. He provided the first breakthrough for the Chennai Super Kings after dismissing Quinton de Kock in the fifth over.

However, Thakur set the stage on fire when he took a brilliant catch to dismiss Krunal Pandya in the 13th over. The pacer bowled a good bouncer and Krunal top-edged the delivery. Dhoni inched towards taking the catch, but Thakur ran in called for the catch and latched on to the ball after juggling it. Krunal walked back to the pavilion for seven runs as the Mumbai Indians were reduced to 89/4.

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat against Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League title clash.

Mumbai Indians have brought in Mitchell McCleneghan, replacing Jayant Yadav while CSK are unchanged. Both the sides have won three titles each.

Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar had his say on MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.

“I think they (Rohit and Dhoni) are pretty sharp. MS has been leading for a number of years and Rohit has also been incredibly successful. So the ability to read the game and having that peripheral (situational) awareness makes them special captain,” Tendulkar told ‘Star Sports’ on Sunday.
