IPL 2019: Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene speaks about Jasprit Bumrah and workload management
Bumrah has a unique action, his jittery run-up and flaying arms are not conventional by any means, and according to former India physio John Gloster, this is susceptible to injuries.

Captain Virat Kohli wants the players to be their best judge and decide what suits their body. Weighing in on the issue, Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene has said that there is no reason to be worried over the fitness of players, especially the bowlers.
Jasprit Bumrah, who has emerged as India’s pace spearhead, will be one the marquee players for Mumbai Indians and Jayawardene believes that the fast-bowler should play rather than sit and home over workload concerns.
“The workload needs to be managed but at the same time they need to play good competitive cricket. I think India has managed their players well over the years giving them breaks. I think your best players need to play. They can’t stay at home and turn up and perform. It’s about that fine balance and as long as we can manage that, they will be fine,” Jayawardene told India Today.
Bumrah has a unique action, his jittery run-up and flaying arms are not conventional by any means, and according to former India physio John Gloster, this is susceptible to injuries. However, barring a knee injury, the fast bowler has been fit and has only gone from strength to strength in his career so far.
“He is always an attacking option with his wicket-taking ability. In the death overs, he has all the skills and he backs himself to do that. He is definitely a game changer,” Jayawardene added.
